Overview


MSc Medical Physiology is a postgraduate program that focuses on the study of the physiological mechanisms that regulate the human body. Program Objectives: 

 

The program objective for a Master’s in Physiology is to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the human body’s function and regulation. This program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to analyze and interpret physiological processes at the cellular, organ, and system levels.

Specific objectives of a Master’s in Physiology program may include:

•  To provide a comprehensive understanding of the principles and concepts related to physiological function and adaptation.
•  To develop proficiency in laboratory techniques and data analysis methods used in physiological research.
•  To enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the context of physiological phenomena.

•  Understand general principles of medical education (use of appropriate teaching techniques and resources
•  Effective Communication Skill by Microteachings Formative and summative assessment of Communication and teaching skills in the form of Microteaching seminar presentations
•  Use the library facilities (Literature database using computer, CD ROM, internet search, and any other available newer techniques).

 

 

Eligibility Criteria


As a minimum criterion of eligibility, aspiring candidates need to have attained a B.Sc. in any discipline of Life Sciences, Bachelor's degree in any of Biological Sciences, M.B.B.S, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, B. Pharma, Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, or equivalent examination with a minimum aggregate score of 50%.

 

Course Duration:  The M.Sc. Medical Physiology course is of 3 years duration including one year of compulsory internship.

Theory Examination: 

 

Paper I : - General physiology, nervous system including nerve-muscle physiology, special senses

Paper II : - Blood and body Fluids, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, renal physiology, skin and temperature regulation

Paper III : - Recent advances, gastrointestinal tract, endocrinology and reproduction.
