ADMISSION

Candidates who wish to be considered for admission to Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) programme must register in accordance with the guidelines established by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow.

An Occupational therapist works for the people with functional disability. Client may be newly born premature infant for his developmental needs to old person for his developmental needs to old person for his geriatric needs.

For admission in paramedical BOT (Bachelor of Occupational Therapy) program, candidate should have passed 10+2 intermediate examination with qualifying subjects; physics, chemistry and biology with minimum 60% marks and above.

The duration of the course of BOT is 4.5 years (4 years academic and 6 months compulsory internship program). The medium of instruction is English. After passing the prescribed examinations conducted by university, the students will have to complete six months of compulsory rotatory internship. The successful students will be awarded the degree of Bachelor of occupational therapy (BOT) by the university.

-At time of admission- Rs 33900

-Quarterly fee- Rs 20000; Total 16 quarters

Career prospective:

Career by word means the range of subject activity or opportunity and hence the career in occupational therapy is divided into three major dimensions- academic, clinical, and job opportunity.

1.Clinical Occupational Therapist:

Occupational therapists work in government and private major hospitals, clinics, day care centres, rehabilitation centers, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), special schools, industries, normal schools, nursing homes, and OT educational institutions.

2.Academic Faculty:

As a member of the teaching faculty in government or private medical or paramedical colleges and in educational institutions.

As an occupational therapy tutor for specific courses and lecturer with certified teaching experience in a variety of government and private institutes.

3.Initiation of Self Start up:

An Occupational therapist starts his/her own OT clinic/centre in various specializations such as paediatrics, neurology, orthopaedics, etc.

4.Research Work:

Able to do research in the Occupational Therapy profession after completing his/her MOT/PhD in occupational therapy.

Technical Exposure:

  1. Perform a clinical assessment of client.
  2. Have gained knowledge of healthcare professionals.
  3. Develop communication skills with patients and their caregivers.
  4. Learn how to use standardised patient evaluation tools.
  5. Develop documentation and organization skills.
  6. Train students in routine clinical OPD/ IPD department.
  7. Able to deal with the person’s disability.
